Attending a conference or training can be intimidating for a youth or young adult. For many of the participants, it may be the first time that they have spent time with other individuals with disabilities or talked about their disability to others. For these youth, icebreakers maybe an important part of becoming comfortable in the group and accepting their disabilities.
THE BREAD AND BUTTER OF THIS SECTION:
For youth attending this event, it may be the first time that they have spent time with other youth who have disabilities. Talking about their disabilities and interacting with the other youth can be intimidating. This section of the toolkit is meant to help participants become comfortable with the other youth, introduce them to thinking about disabilities, and create networks.
