THE BREAD AND BUTTER OF THIS SECTION:
This section of the toolkit is meant to facilitate the understanding of disability history, culture, and community. It is important for participants to have a strong background in the history and culture of the disability community; this will provide a base for learning and self-advocacy. It can be used as a whole or as individual activities. Ideally the disability history PowerPoint should be used prior to the other activities in order to develop a better understanding of the material making the activities easier and more enjoyable.
This presentation introduces participants to famous people with disabilities and provides an introduction to the disability rights movement.
